iCentre Website

The new iCentre website was launched in 2012 and provides the college community at site 1 with around-the-clock access to resources and information. In 2013 I gave a
presentation to the parents of year 8-11 students to spread the word regarding the vast amount of information accessible on this site, and followed this up with a presentation to the College Board of Trustees. The website is easily accessed via the desktop of all computers within the College, and students are directed to the Assignment Resources page when beginning an inquiry unit. The website at site 1 is a constantly evolving virtual learning environment that I am certain enhances the learning and teaching at the college. Looking to the future, I would like to tweak the overall usability of the website and create a site that students and staff go to by habit, knowing that all their information needs may be satisfied in the one place. I have had some wonderful feedback from the Headmaster, parents and students, but I believe that one must continue to change as the needs of the users change. I intend to create a survey to gain feedback that will help me provide students, staff and the wider college community with a virtual learning space that delivers exactly what the user needs, and is easy to navigate and use.

iCentre Facebook Page

In 2013 I created an iCentre Facebook page at site 1 in order to lead by example through the appropriate use of social media. In my opinion social media is becoming one of the most powerful tools for communication, collaboration, and the sharing of resources and knowledge. The page is 'liked' by a number of students, teachers, parents, and also 'friends of friends'.

It is my intention to create a Twitter account in addition to the Facebook page, as I believe it is only a matter of time before the 'powers that be' recognize the potential of social media in 21st-century education.
